In a bizarre partnership that defies usual expectations, Ubisoft has unveiled an virtual collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.

Strange Adventure Disclosed

According to the formal release, "A mysterious meeting leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where whispers of banned practices and terrifying metamorphoses reverberate through the obscurity." The plot features a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a clandestine cult.

The mission concentrates on "peculiar tests and a terrifying foe" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Settings and Changes

The trailer highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview ends with a striking sequence showing a character, presumably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Rewards and Additional Material

Players who finish the mission will acquire an exclusive katana alongside several artifacts secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Special implements
• Survey Corps steed

Third Free Story Update

This patch also introduces the game's third complimentary story addition, titled "The Mystery." This playful mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive abilities: Naoe introduces a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also features a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

Past Japanese Animation Collaborations

This signifies hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime series. The series earlier included a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally contained a quest that obviously echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
